Message therefore it's constantly adjusting the timing to minimize idle emissions and keep the cats hot. The older 8 bit ecu is slower and it doesn't flutter the timing as often. Both should be solid when you disable the ecu input to set the base timing. On the 16 bit cars if you bump up the idle a bit the timing will get a little more stable at idle, I usually dial them into 900~925.
